Memory is a crucial factor in learning , affecting our ability to pay attention, remember, and use information. Teachers need to understand the role that memory plays in learning and design lessons that maximise its potential. The following simple model of memory, devised by Professor of Psychology Daniel Willingham , can tell us a lot about how learning works. We learn when information is transferred from our environment , through our working memory to our long term memory, and effectively stored there.
